App Review: Movies
I love movies. I try to go every Friday to see the latest release, whether it is a cartoon or suspense. Finding out what theaters have shows at the time I prefer (early morning) was a jumbled mess of a mobile website until I found Movies by Flixster.
Each of the 5 tabs help you quickly find movies you want to see – and they even built in reviews from real people to help you decide if a movie is worth spending $10 to go see.
The first tab, “Box Office” shows what is opening this week, and offers clickable trailers for you to view right on your phone. Next is “Theaters”, which shows a list of theaters in your immediate area using GPS or with your zip code. I prefer to go to the movies far from home, so this is a great addition to the app. “Upcoming” lets you know what movies are coming up, along with trailers and details on the movie’s release date. Need to know what DVDs are being released this week? The fourth tab covers that for you in great detail, too. “My Movies” is the place to go to connect your various accounts – Facebook, Flixster or Netflix – view lists of movies you want to see, movies you’ve rated and movies your friends have rated.
This slick app gives you the information you need in an easy to read and use format. You can favorite (star) theaters you like, and their results will show up first in your list of theaters. If your theater accepts online payments for tickets, you can purchase tickets right from your phone! Find restaurants near the theater, too. This app is an all-in-one date night planner.
Movies is a great way to look up movie times on the go – read more about movies you might want to see, or watch wide screen and full screen trailers of movies old and new. Overall, this app gets 4 of 5 stars. Download Movies in the Market.
I’ve had this app on my Droid since day #1! It’s great and way accurate! What i especially like is it even has the local, no-name, $3 theatre listed in my area. So if I’m out and about and decide to go to a movie last minute, I have all the information at my fingertips!
I have been using the Fandango movie apparently since I got my phone. It works OK, but after your review and looking at the flixter apparently I think I like it much better. Thanks for the review.
