App Review: doubleTwist

doubleTwist is like iTunes for Android; browse the Market, search for podcasts, buy music and sync to your Android device and even sync playlists between iTunes and Android. My favorite feature includes being able to view photos from your device on your computer’s screen. It’s a lot more simple than searching the SD card for saved photos.

Download doubleTwist desktop app from its website. This is one app that is not installed on your phone and can be used via an app on your computer (Windows, Mac) or web browser! The music store is powered by Amazon.com and offers similar prices to the iTunes Music Store.

The Market shows frequently changing “Featured” apps, Top Paid and Top Free apps. There’s a handy search box at the top of the screen, where you can search for apps and the results page brings up any matching terms and directs you to a page for each app. The app page includes reviews, a QR code and information about the app.

It’s easy and fast to search for apps using the doubleTwist app versus the Market on your phone. Everything’s in one place and easily organized.

Sync your playlists from iTunes to doubleTwist and have your favorite tunes while you’re on the go. You can select which playlists you want to sync, which is helpful when you have a small SD card or limited space on your SD card. You can create playlists in doubleTwist and add music to them from the app, but there’s no way to sync them back to iTunes. If you know of a way, let us know in the comments!

As great as this app is, I wouldn’t suggest buying the .99 cent doubleTwist app, because of the high number of reports about it not working with a wide variety of devices, including the Droid. Your mileage may vary, though. Read the description and see if you actually need this automatic phone mounting app.

Have you used doubleTwist? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Download doubleTwist player from the Market to get started using your iTunes playlist on your Android device today!
