“Droidette” Backgrounds!
CraftLass coined the name “droidette” for the girl-droid logo at the top of our site – cute, huh?
I was browsing Flickr and came across a bunch of great background designs that can be used as Droid home screen backgrounds. I saw one by aka_sulley that I liked which had an Android logo on it, and asked if he would customize it for us and make the droid female like our logo, and he more than delivered! Check out these awesome images!
Click on any image to go to its Flickr page. If you want a “regular droid” or other patterns instead, check out aka_sulley’s wallpaper set on Flickr.
So here’s how you can put one of these images (or any image from your computer) on your phone:
- Follow these instructions to connect your Droid to your computer and allow file transfers.
- In your computer’s file explorer, navigate to the folder on the phone’s memory card (which may appear as a USB device or “removable disk”) that you want to store your image files in. I put mine in an existing folder called “download”.
- Download your favorite wallpaper image (on the Flickr images, click the “O” below the image to get the “original” or full-size image file) to your computer’s desktop or other easy-to-find location and drag & drop it into the folder on your phone.
- Follow the instructions at the link in step 1 to disconnect the Droid from your computer.
- Long-press on your Droid background and select “Wallpapers” then “Pictures”. The file you just uploaded should be the first picture in the list. Click it.
- If the whole image isn’t selected in the rectangle that appears, drag the edges to move the crop lines to enclose the entire image. click “Save” and it will set the image as your new background!
- Adjust your icons as necessary so you can see your pretty new wallpaper 🙂 Enjoy!

ooooh I’m so glad I found this post!! Backgrounds are one of my HUGE addictions. LOL.. I just put 5 on my D1, going to get a few more for my DX. =)
