Game: Sketch Online Beta

Game: Sketch Online Beta

One thing I’ve learned smartphones are good for is entertaining me when I’m doing something boring, like waiting in the car for someone. There are a lot of games for Android that are perfect for when you have 9 minutes to waste and you don’t want to get into any long games or heavy reading, but just want something ‘mindless’ to pass the time.

My time-waster of choice? Sketch Online Beta.

It’s basically online Pictionary. You enter a room with up to 10 other players and each takes a turn drawing the word they’re given while the other players try to guess what it is.

sketching the word "hand"

By my sketch, you can tell it’s sometimes tough to draw with your finger on a small touch screen (especially while trying to screen-capture at the same time!), but it’s a fun fast-paced game. The more people that guess correctly, the more time is taken off the clock, so once a few players get it, the rest of the group has to hurry to guess before time runs out. However, some people are bad sketchers and no one ever figures out what they are trying to draw, and some people cheat and just write the word to get points.

I’ve never seen anyone really care about the points, though, since people are constantly entering and leaving the room and there’s no real “winner”, but it’s fun and mindless and makes waits much less boring!

Sounds fun! I might try this sometime, it shouldn’t be hard to find the app download. I’m not particularly speedy though, so this game might not suit me that much…

Hm, when I click on the color block (which is black by default) then select a pen color, it changes for me!
