Game: Abduction!

I don’t play games on my phone often, but I like this quick cute game: Abduction! When I first tried it, I liked it as an app to show off the Droid’s accelerometer (since I had never had a phone with motion interactivity before).

I believe the story behind abduction is that you are a cow and all of your cow buddies have been abducted by aliens, and you have to get up to the UFO to save them before the aliens take them to space. (Of course.)

Here’s how it works: The cow is already bouncing when you start the game. You tilt your phone left or right for her to bounce in a certain direction and aim for her to land on the grass shelves which are mysteriously floating in the sky. As you climb higher, the shelves become fewer and further between so it gets harder, but if you make it to the top, you enter the UFO and pass that level. If you miss a shelf and fall, you lose a life.

It was hard to capture a screenshot in this fast-paced game! This is the very beginning of an easy level. You can see my cow bouncing up on the right and a parachuting cow falling on the left.

As you’re bouncing upwards, some cows parachute down past you, and sometimes there are gifts on the grass sky-shelves, and gathering the gifts & cows on the way up can earn you free lives, additional platforms (which makes it easier to continue), or extra points. However, occasionally they’re tricks and you activate an effect that increases the difficulty, like “crumble”, where the grass shelves you land on crumble as you bounce so you must land on a new shelf after every jump.

“Abduction!” is a fun quick game that players of any age can enjoy, even if you’re not a “gamer”. If you’ve played it, let us know what you think in the comments!
