App Review: TextDooDad

You can read our Q&A with Diana Luckevich, the developer of TextDooDad, here!

TextDooDad makes it easy to evaluate trends with SMS messages and phone calls on your Android device.

This app is pretty lightweight and it is also easy to use once you poke around with the settings and click around in the app. Maybe you’ll be smarter than me and figure it all out without watching the video, but if not, TextDooDad’s website offers a handy YouTube video of the features and how to make it work for you!

I like seeing how many people I text in a different format than in my inbox and also seeing when was the last time I sent someone a message without having to count it in my head or on my fingers.

Using the app for SMS Texts, you can:

  • View Threads by time since last Text
  • See number of Texts received and sent
  • Save favorite Texts in a database
  • List Texts across all threads by
    – Unread Texts
    – Texts received
    – Texts sent
    – All Texts by time
    – Draft Texts

For Call Logs, you can:

  • See a summary of all calls
  • Review calls by contacts
  • Sort calls by date, minutes and caller

This app is simple to use and provides a lot of features that the native app should provide. Because of its clean UI, you don’t feel like you’re getting information overload, even though you  have a ton of information at your fingertips about your SMS and phone call habits.

You can also reply to texts directly from TextDooDad, so this could potentially replace your native messenger one day.

This app gets 4 out of 5 stars. It would be great if you could use the app without having to view the video first to get an idea of what power you’ve unlocked by downloading this app. Sometimes the sorting didn’t work, but that might be a bug that’ll be worked out in future releases.

Download TextDooDad from the Market.
